Welcome to The Seaburn Bay, a hidden gem located at 3-5 Whitburn Bents Rd, Sunderland SR6 8AD. This quintessential British restaurant specializes in the time-honored tradition of fish and chips, catering to both locals and visitors alike with its delicious offerings and inviting atmosphere.

The cuisine at The Seaburn Bay centers around fresh, high-quality seafood, with the cod and chips reigning supreme as a must-try. At £15, this dish features a generous portion of beautifully fried cod encased in a perfectly crisp batter, accompanied by chips that offer a comforting crunch. However, be aware that their consistency can vary, as noted by loyal patrons. Many customers rave about the outstanding taste of the fish, praising it for its freshness and flavor. Linda Russell, a passionate fish and chips aficionado who travels two hours just for a taste, asserts it to be the “very best” she has ever experienced.

With both eat-in and takeaway options, you can enjoy your meal in their cozy setting or outside at the sun-drenched tables when the weather allows. As Beverly noted, enjoying your takeout on a lovely day elevates the experience, making every bite of scrumptious fish and chips a real treat.

For those looking to explore more than just fish and chips, The Seaburn Bay also offers a variety of other delightful options, including their homemade pies, scampi, and succulent sausage—all served with a range of tasty sauces for dipping. The staff is known for their attentiveness and warmth, ensuring that every visit feels like coming home. Tally S particularly highlighted the friendly demeanor of the team, adding to the welcoming vibe of the establishment.

Beyond the incredible food, what truly sets The Seaburn Bay apart is the sense of community it fosters among its guests. Regulars speak highly of their consistent quality, and even casual visitors like Mike Overy were pleasantly surprised by their satisfying breakfasts and delightful décor. Whether it’s a festive New Year’s Day meal or a spontaneous lunch, the restaurant's commitment to quality shines through every plate served.

I had the cod and chips. £15 for fish chips and a side (curry sauce) It is a bit on the pricey side but the fish was quite large. Fish was nice, chips were a bit stale and didn’t seem fresh. Staff were friendly.

A proper fish and chip shop in Seaburn , either eat in or takeaway . We had the takeout and sat outside on a beautiful sunny day at tables provided. Great service and excellent food

Called in here New Year’s Day. Everything was absolutely spot on. We got a special which was a ‘small’ cod & chips with 1 side and a pot of tea. Could not fault the quality. Service was great & very friendly staff. Will definitely return!

Until The Bay opened, fish and chips in Seaburn were pretty much a much of a muchness! In otherwords, it didn't matter where you got them from, they were all as good as each other (and they weren't bad to be fair). It's just The Bay is the stand out best now. Their chips are amazing and fish is always really tasty. My only gripes, is sometimes their fish portions are a bit inconsistent and they are not cheap. But if you want the best, you have to be prepared to pay for it.

We had haddock, cod, scampi and sausage all with chips. One curry sauce along with 4 soft drinks. Fantastic tasting food served by warm, welcoming and friendly staff. Very reasonable and couldn't eat it all...we'll be back.
